Kids ArtExplore
Enhance learning with hands-on art skills, and different creative opportunities each week. Tim is an experienced and inspiring art educator. All Fridays (Feb 21 no class). Choose session 1: 2pm to 3:30pm; or session 2: 4pm to 5:30pm. Purchase session passes in blocks of six for $72 (81.36 with tax). Passes can be used by different students for the same or different sessions, but these need to be arranged at the time of purchase. Ages: 6 to 16; lessons will be tailored to suit the ages present. Linocut Prints
A linocut is a type of relief print made with ink and a carved block. Rolling out your first print on our new press will be an amazing experience, and the adventure continues with each edition. Step-by-step instructions will guide beginners and intermediates through the whole process, including 1- and 2-colour prints, and jig-saw prints. Two sessions, including borrowed tools and inks: $90 ($101.70 with tax). A third session will be planned if needed. Sun Mar 2 and 9; 11 to 3pm. Anyone who has taken a print class with Tim can book printing time with the new etching press!
Classic Drawing (Postponed)
This class will be a series of exercises to introduce participants to the possibilities and techniques of pencil sketching. Eye-hand coordination will be improved and strengthened with focused exercizes. $45 ($50 with tax) for 2 sessions; add optional supply kit including sketch book: $30 ($33.90 with tax). POSTPONED
Portraits
Human faces are endlessly fascinating. Drawing them can be endlessly challenging! In these classes, students will learn classic and contemporary approaches to portraiture, and get lots of guidance as we work in pencil, pastel, or paint. Bring your own supplies, or purchase what you need. Attend one, two or three sessions; each one is $20 ($22 with tax). Basics intro! Monday March 3; 6 to 8. Watercolour Studio
These fluid paints were traditionally considered a preparatory sketching medium for a finished oil painting, but today are enjoyed by outdoor painters, illustrators and hobbyists for their transparent beauty. Gain skills in washes, gradations and more. Daniel Smith paints will be featured, and the course fee includes two free tubes of your choice. Course fee: $65 ($73 with tax) includes paint and paper. Brushes supplied. Saturday Mar 15, 1 to 3pm. Further sessions will be planned if there is interest ($20 each).
Pastel Studio
Pastels are known for their intense, matte colour and expressive possibilities. Learning to handle them for different effects will extend your tool belt and give you confidence in drawing and painting. Unison Colour hand-rolled pastels will be featured, and the course fee includes three of your choice. Course fee: $55 ($62 with tax). Saturday Mar 1; 1 to 3pm. Further sessions will be planned if there is interest ($20 each).
Handwriting (FULL)
Celebrate Handwriting Day by trying different pens and letterforms. Whether you just want to improve your "hand" or make your own calligraphy cards, you'll get tips for it all. We will explore historical and contemporary alphabets. For teens and adults. The lesson will be tailored to suit those present. Materials included. Thursday, Jan 23; 7 to 8:30pm. $25 ($28 with tax).
Piano Lessons
Co-owner Barbara Dyck has a masters degree in piano pedagogy, and offers lessons to all ages and levels.
