Welcome to our unique space: a 1920s tin ceiling spans all the elements you need for your creative pursuits— picture framing, quality art supplies, hand bookbinding and a piano studio!
You’ll find expert help from owners Tim and Barb Dyck. Tim grew up on the prairies, where the big skies and open spaces inspired his artistic development. This eventually led to an MFA degree in Montreal, and part of that experience was an apprenticeship in bookbinding.
Barb was raised in Ontario, and her musical background brought her to study piano pedagogy in New Jersey. They and their two daughters Annika and Lydia have made The Colour Jar a destination in Durham for more than 18 years.
